Module joint actuator

The snake like robot is a biomimetic inspired based in passive wheels and 9 modules with 2 DOF active joint. The characteristics of the snake with a variety of motion patterns and multi-redundancy and multi-degree of freedom make it have powerful motion ability and good environmental adaptability.

The snake-like robot uses modular design of continuous redundant joints with a remarkable versatility, economy and robustness. The key property of snakes in achieving serpentine locomotion is the difference in the friction coefficients for the tangential and the normal directions with respect to the body.
