The ornithopter, or bird robot, is a modular and foldable flapping-wing drone mechanism similar to a real bird; it is an aircraft that flies through the motion of its wings. It is biomimetically designed to imitate the wing locomotion of birds, insects, bats, and other flying animals. The entire structure is constructed from lightweight aluminum, with a total mass of 430 grams and a wingspan of 130 cm. The ornithopter is controlled via remote control (RC).
